T-Mobile Improves Plans in Response to Verizon
In a press release that came just hours after Verizon made headlines by announcing
that it’s once again offering unlimited plans, T-Mobile announced that as of Friday its T-Mobile ONE plan will include HD video and 10GB of high-speed hotspot data at no extra charge.
Under the plan, customers can access new unlimited 4G data plans with HD video streaming, a mobile hotspot
and calling, texting and up to 500 MB per day of 4G LTE roaming in the U. S., Mexico and Canada.
When Verizon announced the unlimited data plan, investors took the opportunity to sell
off shares of T-Mobile, fearing its losing its unlimited advantage over Verizon.
Not one to let another wireless carrier get all the attention, T-Mobile US Inc.
(TMUS) responded to Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) new unlimited plans.
Once a customer hits 22GB of data usage, Verizon could “prioritize usage behind other customers in the event of network congestion.” T-Mobile imposes a similar restriction at 26GB,
but it also limited streaming video quality to 480p, something Verizon isn’t doing.
